Manuscript inscriptions in two different hands by previous owners on first flyleaf (Henry Marsh 39 Grosvenor Place Bath; Given to Theodore on his birthday May 10th 1861 by his father); manuscript signature of Henry Marsh on upper right corner of title page; plus five pages of handwritten notes in 19th century handwriting included (possibly of Henry Marsh). T-page torn and repaired; slight spotting throughout; tear on lower margin of p. xxv not affecting the text; wide margins; edges marbled; pages mostly clean and crisp. Contemporary diced calf; gilt tooling; rebacked but preserving old spine; label with gilt title on spine; slightly rubbed. Overall a fine and rare copy.
