8vo, 3 vols.: [6], VII – XVIII, 398 pp.; [5], VI – XX, 462 pp.; [7], VIII – XV, 552 pp. Each volume with half-title, title page and a portrait of Dickens at different ages, with tissue guards. All three volumes are labelled with ex-libris of William Anstice and Bernard Norton on front pastedowns and belonged to British writer John Symonds, who bought them in 1956 as mentioned in a hand-written note on the free endpaper of the first volume. Red coated-cloth hardcover, with black arabesques on head and foot. Gilt title, volume and publishing house’s name on spines. Slightly worn headcaps and tails. The inner hinge of the second and third volumes shows spine netting.  A good copy.
