CERVANTES, M. de. El ingenioso hidalgo Don Quijotte de la Mancha
Mardid, Juan de la Cuesta, 1605-1615 (= Barcelona, 1871).
Large 4to, 2 vols of 3. Facsimile reprint of Cervantes’ famous literary masterpiece. This was the first book ever to be reproduced photostatically. Printed on fine paper, leaves untrimmed, with deckled edges, some gatherings still uncut. Spines covered in original red morocco gilt. Covers sympathetically restored and recovered in compatible red buckram. Endpapers decorated with floral motives and putti. Ex-libris of Eduard Grisebach on pastedowns. Lacking the third volume containing the illustrations, text complete. An excellent copy with a very light yellowing and negligible spotting on title-pages.
