Scarce enlarged edition of William Beattie’s illustrated book detailing various Scottish landscapes of the early 19th century. The plates were engraved by Robert Wallis after the artists Bartlett, Allom, Campion, and Mossman. William Beattie MD (1793 ? -1875) was a Scottish physician and poet. In 1836 he travelled in Switzerland and in the land of the Waldenses. Subsequently he published a series of descriptive and historical works, which were illustrated W. H. Bartlett, on Switzerland, Scotland, The Waldenses, Castles and Abbeys of England, and The Danube.
