[ANON.]; BERTINI, A. (ill.). Costumi di Roma e dei contorni
Rome: Lithographie Santarelli, 1846
32mo (11.5 x 8.5 cm). Hand coloured vignette title page depicting the “Saltarello”, a traditional folk dance; 30 hand-colored plates bound concertina-style in its original red Morocco backed boards within a matching slipcase. Each plate shows a traditional character defined by their profession or provenance ( for e.g. the pilgrim, the flute players, the Ciociara, the woman from Tivoli…). Internally clean and unmarked, with very bright plates. Covers and spine faded and; with minor wear. A rare and fine copy.
