This is the first volume of two that were written by Italian art historian Mario Praz (1896 – 1982) and edited by Friz Saxl at the Warburg Institute of London. This is an important reference book for the study of seventeenth-century emblems and devices. Includes multiple b/w illustrations throughout. A very good copy.
